Artist based in Buffalo, NY.
Carolyn McPike (b. 1990) is an American artist. Her mixed media paintings are created with acrylic paint, fiber, metal, paper, plastic, and stone on cradled wood panels. Carolyn is inspired to create by her love for astronomy and music, especially ambient, electronic, new age, and post-rock. Her work explores the concept of infinite space.
Carolyn was born and raised in Rochester, NY. Growing up, she enjoyed collecting rocks, drawing plants, gardening, reading science fiction, and visiting the planetarium for star shows and other films. Her study of art began at an elementary age with pottery, weaving, and jewelry programs at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY. Carolyn’s artistic studies continued with painting, sculpture, and photography courses throughout her public-school education in Irondequoit, NY.
Carolyn attended the State University of New York at Fredonia and earned a Bachelor’s in Communications with a minor in Visual Arts & New Media. Her art has been included in several juried group exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad. Carolyn currently lives with her husband, daughter, and two cats in Buffalo, NY.
